Who We Are
GPCA is a non-profit organization whose primary focus is to preserve the tranquility and beauty of our community. A brief summary of the four important aspects of Who We Are is given below with more detailed information provided by selecting the individual topic below.
The general mission of the GPCA involves preservation of our rural community, addressing circumstances and situations which affect our community, and encouraging community fellowship.
Granite, MD had its beginnings in the early 19th century and was noted for the granite quarrying industry through the early 20th century. The high-quality granite stone materials were used for such famous buildings as the old Baltimore County Courthouse and the Library of Congress.
Generally the GPCA boundary is established via Marriotsville Road, the Urban Rural Demarcation Line (URDL), Johnny Cake Road, and the Patapsco River. A map is provided on the Boundary Definition page.
GPCA officers include the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer with 3 Board of Directors appointed for a 3-year term on a rotating basis. Committees are established and maintained as needed.
